Renowned Australian-Based Celebrity Chef Duncan Welgemoed Brings Africola to Fiji

14th January 2025 (Natadola, Fiji): South African-born, French-trained, and Adelaide-based Chef Duncan Welgemoed, celebrated for his restaurant Africola, will host exclusive culinary events in Fiji this January.  

Known for his fearless approach to flavour and globally acclaimed dining experiences, the celebrity chef will bring his signature style to guests through immersive dining events at InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa and Grand Pacific Hotel.

These events will highlight a fusion of African-inspired cuisine and local Fijian ingredients, offering something extraordinary for food enthusiasts and travellers alike.

Event highlights include:

  • Dop & Chop (InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa): A three-course gastronomic journey at Navo Signature Restaurant on 16–17 January, featuring dishes such as raw snapper with coconut milk and slow-smoked wagyu rump.
  • Shebeen Pop-Up (InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa): An elevated street food experience at Kama Lounge on 19 January, offering creative bites like BBQ snapper baguette and cauliflower shawarma.
  • Eating House Beachside BBQ (InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa): A relaxed beachfront BBQ at Kama Beachfront on 20 January, celebrating bold, smoky flavours.
  • The Real Makoya Grand Harbour Feast (Grand Pacific Hotel): A grand finale event at Na Toba Poolside in Suva on 23 January, featuring a lavish spread of Africola’s signature dishes, live entertainment, and a Polynesian fire show.
