InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa Marks World Bee Day With Honey Programme In May
Natadola, Fiji, Tuesday 5 May 2026: InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa will mark World Bee Day on Wednesday 20 May with a month‑long programme that places on‑property beekeeping at the centre of guest experience, sustainability and community connection, extending its impact beyond Natadola Bay to Fiji’s capital through curated dining activations.
Running from 1 to 31 May 2026, Honey Month at Natadola aligns with the global observance of World Bee Day and reflects a growing shift in premium travel towards experiences that offer rare access, local depth and tangible environmental engagement. At its core is the resort’s working Natadola Bay Honey programme, a long‑standing initiative supported by an on‑property apiary and resident beekeeping team.
InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa maintains more than 21 active beehives, each home to approximately 60,000 bees, supporting the health of the resort’s gardens and flowering landscape while producing honey that is harvested regularly and integrated across food, wellness and learning experiences. Guests encounter the programme through daily sting‑free honey tastings at breakfast, guided Bee‑Happy apiary experiences, seasonal honey‑inspired menus and the Natadola Bay Honey Retreat at Spa InterContinental.

Beehives at the working apiary on the resort’s farm, forming part of the Natadola Bay Honey programme at InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa.
Extending the Natadola Bay Honey programme beyond the resort, selected Honey Month dining activations will also take place at Grand Pacific Hotel Suva and Holiday Inn Suva, using Natadola Bay Honey in limited‑time menus created for local diners in Fiji’s capital. The cross‑property programme reinforces a shared commitment across IHG’s Fiji FNPF portfolio to celebrating local produce, supporting pollinators, and connecting both travellers and residents to the story through food.
Community impact is also central to the programme. On Friday 22 May, proceeds from coffee sales across all three hotels will be donated to the Fiji Beekeepers Association, supporting training, mentorship and sustainable practices for local honey producers and contributing to the long‑term protection of pollinators vital to Fiji’s agricultural future.
Lachlan Walker, Regional General Manager, Fiji and Pacific, IHG Hotels & Resorts, said, “At InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa, we believe the most meaningful experiences come from genuine connection to place. Our beekeeping programme at Natadola offers rare access to a living system that supports both biodiversity and community, and it allows guests to engage with sustainability in a way that feels real. Extending this story to Suva through our hotels reflects our commitment to sharing those experiences more widely and responsibly.”
The programme exemplifies InterContinental Hotels & Resorts’ approach to Incredible Experiences, where local knowledge, cultural relevance and considered luxury come together in ways that cannot be replicated elsewhere, positioning Natadola Bay as both a place of restoration and participation.
