IHG Portfolio in Fiji supports Fiji Cancer Society this #PINKTOBER

19th October 2022 (Natadola, Fiji): IHG Hotels & Resorts (IHG) properties in Fiji join efforts to contribute towards Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October to create awareness and raise funds for the Fiji Cancer Society program, which provides essential support to patients and survivors. Throughout October, InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa, Grand Pacific Hotel and Holiday Inn Suva are participating in fundraising efforts and will proudly donate part of the sale on selected items to benefit cancer awareness causes with the Fiji Cancer Society.

In addition, all IHG Fiji female employees are offered a pap test with the Ministry of Health and Medical Services at each hotel, recognising the importance of early detection to control cancer in its early stages. InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa has organised an outreach at Sanasana Village in Natadola.

The aspiration which drives the Fiji Cancer Society is the simple vision of our national community being free from cancer. This is the change, and society uses this vision to proactively inspire themselves, patients, partners, survivors, families and communities to combat cancer from all angles.

#PINKTOBER-inspired cocktails have been curated to signify the colour of hope and raise funds for the cause. Part of retail sales on these cocktails will be donated to the Fiji Cancer Society.

BREAST CANCER AWARENESS AND MEDICAL CHECKUPS
IHG Hotels & Resorts care about its colleague’ health and well-being. These initiatives were supported to emphasise that female colleagues' health is a priority that should not be neglected for any reason and that the company is always by their side, especially during these difficult times. Morning tea was also organised on breast cancer awareness and breast health to be talked about with all colleagues. This ensures that all colleagues know what it means to see a pink ribbon.

Breast cancer has accounted for 28.2 per cent of deaths in the country from 2009 to 2019, according to data obtained by The Institute for Health Metrix and Evaluation (IHME) Fiji.1

In addition, Grand Pacific Hotel Suva turned pink on Saturday, 15th October 2022, to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The iconic Grand Pacific Hotel’s front exterior will display pink lights to raise awareness and signal support to those affected by breast cancer and show that no one fights alone.

InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa, Grand Pacific Hotel Suva and Holiday Inn Suva are partaking in the campaign with events. Guests and community members who want to show their support and participate in PINKTOBER can visit the properties at each location and participate in fundraising activations benefiting Fiji Cancer Society from October 1 to October 31, 2022.
