At this year’s Moffat National Salon Culinaire 2016 Competition, eight chefs – Jonathan Pau’u, Salome Adidrodroacagi, Mohammed Shahil, Mohammed Ifroz, Sarveen Prasad, Jiten Singh, Donal Sharma and Arnal Deo – were selected after intense internal trials to represent InterContinental Fiji in this year’s competition. The Resort’s apprentice Chef, Jonathan Pau’u, took home the Gold medal in the Live Seafood Competition. Collectively the team claimed 1 gold medal, 3 silver medals and 5 bronze medals across various categories.
“I’m excited that our team did so well this year as most of them are newcomers to the annual event,” said Executive Sous Chef Andreas Reinhardt. “The preparation leading up to the competition was incredible. We created unique concepts, tested and refined them further in the four weeks leading up to the event. Culinary perfection in the pursuit of offering amazing dining experiences is a key part of the InterContinental philosophy and this was one of our driving forces for this competition.”
Barista’s Hansini Gounder and Vaulina Lewavini at InterContinental Fiji’s Sanasana Restaurant took 3rd and 5th place at this year’s Piazza D’Oro Barista of the Year Competition.
